Our Mission

The Commission serves as an outlet for individuals within the healthcare design and construction industry to come together with the common goals developing and expanding our industry network, nurturing relationships with our peers as well as giving back through philanthropic efforts.

What We're About

Philanthropy

Stemming from an altruistic desire to directly impact the health and well-being of children near and far, The Commission has made philanthropy a deeply rooted piece of our mission. Our generous members and corporate sponsors strive to continue to strengthen the Children’s hospitals within the communities in which we live and work. The Commission has donated more than $10,000 to various charities from coast to coast since our inception.

Industry Outreach

With a special niche in healthcare design and construction, a key goal of The Commission is to create an environment where we can cultivate productive relationships with our industry peers. Using ASHE PDC and the Healthcare Design Conference as a backdrop for our gatherings, The Commission coordinates a variety of events to encourage member participation and industry outreach.

Camaraderie

Whether it’s golf, dinner, or some other form of social outing, The Commission puts great emphasis on developing relationships that extend far beyond the office. Our members have found organic mentoring relationships within our group, creating opportunities for both personal and professional growth.

Who We Are

To mark our humble beginning, Steve Steinberg and Ross Ranieri gathered a dozen or so select healthcare industry veterans to participate in a day of golf and an evening of fine dining. The event had no name, no pomp, and no circumstance – but the idea was a sound one: camaraderie amongst a select group of healthcare industry veterans. Who could argue, right? As with many good ideas, the concept flourished. The events became a regular occurrence held each year at both ASHE PDC and the HCD conferences. Those ‘in the know’ looked forward to the conferences not just for the educational session or the speakers or the parties (well ok maybe the parties), but as a way to bond yet again with the brethren that today is known simply as “The Commission.”

In 2016 with a small but meaningful donation to Rady Children’s Hospital, The Commission found it’s real calling by making part of our mission to GIVE BACK at each event. And give back we have. With each subsequent event, we have carried on this mission by raising and donating each year. In recent years, The Commission has continued to evolve both in terms of number of participants and by becoming a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization.

Phoenix Children's Hospital

ASHE PDC | March, 2018

Following a very successful event at ASHE PDC in Phoenix, Arizona, the Commission was able to make a $7,000 donation to the Phoenix Children's Hospital - our largest donation to date! Thank you again to all of our sponsors for making this happen!

Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children

HCD | November, 2017

On the heels of our Golf Tournament at Orange County National during the 2017 Healthcare Design Conference in Orlando, Florida, the Commission was proud to present a check in the amount of $5,100 to the Orlando Health Foundation to benefit the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children! This is one of our largest donations to date, and it would not have been possible without our member support. Thank you to all those who played and contributed to this great cause!

ASHE PDC | March, 2017

With a successful turnout by The Commission at the 2016 ASHE PDC event, $3,000 was donated equally to three great foundations: Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. These generous donations would not have been possible without the support and participation from The Commission members in this year’s ASHE PDC Golf Tournament.

2024 ASHE PDC Conference

March 17-20 | San Diego, CA

Join The Commission during the 2024 PDC!

Please join us on Saturday, March 16, 2024, for a fun day of golf at the fabulous Coronado Golf Course, 2000 Visalia Row, Coronado, CA 92118, 1st tee time @ 12:15PM. Cocktails & Dinner will be at the Portside Pier Brigantine, 1360 N. Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101 beginning at 6:00PM. Final pricing for the events will be based on number of participants and sponsorships. Based on our typical sponsorship, we estimate the individual price to be approximately $215 per person.
